ALERT...THIS...MAN...GIVES...A...COUNTERFEIT...GOSPEL...ALERT...BE DISCERNING...
The following is an overview of Pat Robertson, a re-telling of some the things I have read of him, obviously this is not comprehensive, that'd take much more time than I am prepared to give this charlatan and dangerous man of complete and utter lies, confusion and contradictions.

The church is in a mess, a huge mess. The Pentecostal and Charismatic movements well and truly have their strangle hold on many denominations now, including Presbytarian and Catholic circles. I found that odd, usually Presbytarianism is the last frontier when it comes to blatantly erroneous, unbiblical teachings, they are usually steadfastly traditional and it is kind of sad to see that a lot of these churches are slowly succumbing to the counterfeit spirit.

I did not realise just how many of these word faith people/teachers there were out there. When I was a kid, Charismatic/Pentecostal folks were the weirdos hanging out on the fringe of other churches, it seems over the years that these whack jobs have infiltrated the minds and hearts of seemingly formerly reasonable astute people and fooled them.

It seems that the ever stable unchanging word of God is not enough for them and they want something bigger and better, something to make their hearts race, their minds imagine and their ears tickle. They have even gone as far (some of them) as to saying that the bible was written by men, therefore it is bound to have errors in it and they have used this as reasonable right to twists and change what the message of the bible originally was. Pat Robertson is one of these self proclaimed editors of the bible, somehow, I don't think God is going to be impressed with Pat Robertson messing with the copyright in this book.

Mr. Robertson stated, "Anything coming through man is contaminated to some extent. Therefore, since the Bible came through man, there must be errors in it. So, we must never equate the Bible with the perfect Jesus."
Not only does Pat Robertson say that, but over the years he seems to have made himself the 'voice crying out in the wilderness,' trouble is, nothing of what he has ever foretold has come to pass, quite the opposite actually, they've shown him up for the false prophet that he is, remember, the enemy of a false prophet is time itself.

In 2004, Pat Robertson declared that God had shown him that George Bush would win the election in a landslide victory, "Mr. Bush will win re-election 'in a walk'. I really believe I'm hearing from the Lord its going to be a blowout." Um, I watched those elections and there was no landslide about it, it was VERY close indeed. So Pat Robertson made an addendum to his prophetic 'word from God' and stated, "this prophecy was not the Lord speaking but my own thoughts. I thought it was going to be a blowout, but I think its razor thin." Oops, Pat.

It is funny because God has never been in the habit of telling his prophets one thing and then making a total mort out of them by making the prophecy fall over on its face and thus ensuring that the prophet involved has to stand red faced before the people and recant. Read Micah and the others, the message God gave his prophets did not change and addendums were not made, it happened as God said it would.

Pity Pat doesn't understand this, worse, it is a pity that the people lining his pockets don't 'get it' either.

MR. ROBERTSON HAS PROPHESEID FALSELY BEFORE!

In July 1977 he said that God had given him a message not to be a religious leader but that he should be a teacher who would influence the centre of their culture (I assume American/Western culture) - "from God's perspective".
He also claimed that God had chosen him "to usher in the coming of My Son."

Further to this he also claimed that the "Tribulation would take place in those years." He first predicted that the Tribulation would take place in 1982 and then when he recanted that, he said that it would take place in 1984.

February, 1988, Robertson said, "I heard the Lord saying 'I have something else for you to do. I want you to run for president of the United States.'" During one campaign stop during the 1988 presidential race, Robertson stated: "This is where God wanted me to be. ... Here I am in New Hampshire, before a major primary." He then said, "I assure you that I am going to be the next president of the United States."

In his 1991 book, The New World Order, Robertson predicted that, "U.S. Sen. Jay Rockefeller would be elected president in 1996."

On the economy he stated that, "Again, 2005 is going to be a year of extraordinary prosperity for this nation and for CBN [Christian Broadcasting Network]. And I think the American stock market is going to surge upward, if I heard from the Lord. Again, ladies and gentlemen, don't go and buy stock on my recommendation, but that's what I feel in my heart. The Lord was saying it's going to be a super good year."

On George Bush, "Well, the Lord has some very encouraging news for George Bush ... What I heard is that Bush is now positioned to have victory after victory and that his second term is going to be one of triumph, which is pretty strong stuff. ... He'll have Social Security reform passed. He'll have tax reform passed. He'll have conservative judges on the courts. And that basically he is positioned for a series of dramatic victories which I hope will hearten him and his advisers. They don't have to be timid in this matter because the wind is blowing at his back, and he can move forward boldly and get results."

"In America, again if I'm hearing God right, we will see a tremendous incident of miracles in the year 2005. ... God's spirit is going to be moving in dramatic power around the world. And his spirit is going to be touching the hearts of many in the Muslim world and they will be turning to the gospel, to Jesus Christ. I think many of them already are, but this is going to be an acceleration that will really amaze the world. ... 'Revival will break out throughout the Muslim world, my [God's] truth will penetrate their hearts. The hold of that falsehood that has gripped them will be broken.'"

Note he used the words, "If I'm hearing God right," did the prophets of old EVER say that?

Picture this, Moses before Pharoah, "(If I'm hearing God right,) then you need to set my people free."

Or Micah, "(If I'm hearing God right,) then you need to turn from your sin."

Or Moses, "Aaron, (if I'm hearing God right,) then best they stop worshipping that golden calf, (but only if I'm hearing God right.)"

Or Noah, "I am building this ark because, (if I'm hearing God right,) He wants me to."

I could go on, can you see the difference? When God spoke to Micah, Moses, Noah and others, they did not deviate from the message nor provide an 'out' by saying, "If I'm hearing God right."

When God spoke to them, THEY KNEW IT and they STOOD BY IT and IT CAME TO PASS! (remember, the true enemy of false prophets is time itself.)

But here is the REAL gem for 2005,on Terrorism and global security: "2005 will be another good year for the world. The terrorist threat will diminish..."

I don't know about you, but from what I noted in the news over the year 2005, it was one of the worst years for acts of terrorism and if anything the strangle hold of terrorists has tightened and many innocent lives have been lost. But perhaps Pat wasn't, "Hearin' God right?"

Now, I propose that one of two things is happening here.

1. God is goofing off having a great old time of making a total fool of Pat Robertson...OR
2. Pat Robertson is a phoney.....

Going on the biblical evidence we have, God's never changing word, you have only one conclusion to draw and that is that Pat Robertson is a phoney and a fraud, not only is he a charlatan, but he is a pathetic and ridiculous one to boot. Remember, the true adversary of a false prophet is time itself.

His Thoughts On People

Robertson previously entered the field of foreign policy when he urged the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez: "If he thinks we’re trying to assassinate him, I think we really ought to go ahead and do it," said Robertson.
"It’s a whole lot cheaper than starting a war.... We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability. We don’t need another $200-billion war to get rid of one strong-arm dictator. It’s a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with."

Pat Robertson also freely cohorts with a man by the name of Dr Paul Cameron who freely calls for the extermination of all gay and lesbian men and woman. (see Koop’s autobiography)
He apparently advocates the killing of any individual, (and supports those who call for the extermination of individuals who offend their way of thinking) even though in the Ten Commandments it clearly states, "THOU SHALL NOT KILL!"

His Thoughts on Israel...

“God considers this land to be his,” Robertson said on his TV program “The 700 Club.” “You read the Bible and he says ‘This is my land,’ and for any prime minister of Israel who decides he is going to carve it up and give it away, God says, No, this is mine.

But hang on a second, read the report below...because it seems that (according to Pat Robertson) what Ariel Sharon did was deemed so bad that God saw fit to strike him down, but apparently if Pat Robertson sees fit to rape and pillage and plunder in Israel, then that is perfectly fine by God.....

"The Israeli government is planning to give up a large slice of land to American Christian evangelicals to build a biblical theme park by the Sea of Galilee where Jesus is said to have walked on water and fed 5,000 with five loaves and two fish.
A consortium of Christian groups, led by the television evangelist Pat Robertson, is in negotiation with the Israeli ministry of tourism and a deal is expected in the coming months. The project is expected to bring up to 1 million extra tourists a year but an undeclared benefit will be the cementing of a political alliance between the Israeli rightwing and the American Christian right." Conal Urquhart

Okay, so this is just a little more than disturbing don't you think? I remember seeing something similar to this idea in a movie called For Richer or Poorer, starring Kirsty Alley and Tim 'the tool man' Taylor. Brad Sexton (the character played by Tim Allen,) was going to build a theme park called 'The Holy Land' and the judge, who viewed his ideas said, "You and anyone else stupid enough to get involved in this heresy will burn in hell."

Strong words admittedly, but I have to admit that I think God is probably less than chuffed with Pat Robertson and CO's idea for a theme park. Could this be the fulfilment of the abomination spoken of in Rev? Possibly, either way, I think it is an outright abomination anyway.

Some of Pat Robertson’s Public Statements

1. "If Christian people work together, they can succeed during this decade in winning back control of the institutions that have been taken from them over the past 70 years. Expect confrontations that will be not only unpleasant but at times physically bloody.... This decade will not be for the faint of heart, but the resolute. Institutions will be plunged into wrenching change. We will be living through one of the most tumultuous periods of human history. When it is over, I am convinced God's people will emerge victorious." (Pat Robertson, Pat Robertson's Perspective octavo 1992)

2. "You say you're supposed to be nice to the Episcopalians and the Presbyterians and the Methodists and this, that, and the other thing. Nonsense. I don't have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist. I can love the people who hold false opinions but I don't have to be nice to them." (Pat Robertson)

3. "We have enough votes to run the country. And when the people say, "We've had enough," we are going to take over." (Pat Robertson, speech given to the April, 1980 "Washington for Jesus" rally, quoted from Robert Boston, The Most Dangerous Man in America, p. 29)

Is Pat Robertson really a man of God, someone you should be listening to and following?

Charles Taylor is the recently exiled president of Liberia and he has a record that would make even Saddam Hussein or Idi Amin blush. He is an accused embezzler, a ruthless warlord who apparently liked to torture, kill, extolled the virtues of forced labour (and participated in forcing people to do so) and he was also one of the people who bankrolled Al Qaeda. He was indicted by the UN war crimes tribunal for giving weapons to Sierra Leoneon rebels who liked to indulge in rape and in the removing of limbs from civilians.

This charming man is a business partner and friend of Pat Robertsons. Yes, THE Pat Robertson.

Pat has gone in to bat for Charles Taylor, this is what Pat Robertson had to say about the US Government, "The United States State Department has tried as hard as it can to destabilize Liberia," Robertson complained on his June 26 show. "They only wanted to destroy the sitting president and his government."
Later he added to this, "the United States had no business forcing the ‘duly elected’ Taylor from power. We should be sending U.S. troops to protect the Taylor regime from the rebels trying to overthrow it. We sent our troops to Kosovo to back up a Muslim group," he said. "In this case, we're looking at Muslim rebels trying to overthrow a Christian nation... If we can go out and defend Muslims, it looks to me like we can defend Christians."
In 1999, Taylor and Robertson ended up as business buddies, a fact that Robertson kept hidden for some time, and in the interim, used Taylor to be a front man in the Liberian Christian crusades to stand against the threat of Islam invasion.

You see in 1999, Taylor signed a mineral development agreement with Freedom Gold Ltd (a profit company chartered in the Cayman Islands, giving it exploration and mining rights in, Bukon Jedeh in the southeast of Liberia). When they strike gold, the Liberian Government has a stake of 10% equity in the company. Pat Robertson IS Freedom Gold, Ltd, he OWNS it.

You might ask, "Who cares what Pat Robertson’s business interests are?"

Well you should, if you are lining his pockets, because he is telling you one thing and then doing something else, not only that, but through his actions he is NOT living the life that upholds the moral values and integrity of our God, the God Pat Robertson professes to serve. From what I have seen, and in my opinion, Pat Robertson serves only one person, himself. He seems to have a sideline business with God's people that merely provides him with pin money.

If you find the relationship between Charles Taylor and Pat Robertson worrisome, Pat has a whole list of intriguing friends, aside from Benny Hinn and Co. Another of his personal friends is Jerry Falwell, you know, Mr. It wasn’t the Muslims fault that the twin towers were bombed, it was God striking out at us because of gays, lesbians and people who have had abortions, Falwell. Yes, that’s him.

You know, we can be friends with whomever we wish, but when you are in a position of being an example to others, well that’s a huge responsibility and especially when you are standing yourself up as a man of God.

Some other things to think about.

Pat Robertson stated that Hurricane Katrina was God's punishment for legalised abortion, that kind of falls down on many levels that it encroaches on the utterly absurd.
Let me tell you some figures and facts. New Zealand has a higher abortion rate than the USA, and we are topped by Australia, the USA features on the list third, topped by a nation that has a population that is the smaller than an average American city. Why didn't he involve the whole country instead of confining his smiting to New Orleans and surrounding areas where the hardest hit were the poor and uneducated? I am only asking questions here, see God has a particular heart for the poor and the needy, for the downtrodden, he says that those are the folk that will inherit the Kingdom, so why would he isolate them and punish them for what the legislature (or whatever they call it there) has deemed right? Why didn't he aim the hurricane at the abortion clinics or perhaps at the offices of abortion proponents? I am not mocking God here, I am asking some questions. See I think Katrina was the direct result of several things, including a degenerating global weather system that has been impacted greatly by pollution. I also believe that the design of New Orleans and the levys was flawed, combine those two things alone and you can very easily see that Katrina may well have been a consequence of mistakes made many years ago and also a consequence of the damage we have done to our atmosphere through pollution. So why does Pat Robertson automatically jump to the conclusion that God is lashing out angrily at people? I mean I know that God has punished before, (Noah and the ark, and flooding the world, Sodom & Gomorrah etc) and that God could strike out if he wanted to, just in this instance, it makes little sense to blame God. You abuse the environment for long enough then it WILL come back to bite you sooner or later.

I am NOT pro abortion, I think it is terrible and should not be allowed to be undertaken, however, I do not think that God would lash out at one area alone for something that many other countries are doing to a far greater extent. Also is to be kept in mind Pat Robertson's words of 2001 when during a CNN interview he said that he supports China's policy of one child per family. Hang on a minute, in order to enforce that policy of one child per family, police raid the homes of private individuals and arrest the women pregnant with a second child and take them to a clinic where they are forced to undergo abortion. It is not unusual for that abortion to be undertaken at all stages of gestation, be they one month pregnant or nine months pregnant....way to go Pat!

But Pat is known for making all kinds of weird and wild statements....

"Pat Robertson fires off controversial statements with a regularity that seems downright reckless not only to a big chunk of the public but also to an increasing number of evangelical leaders who say the Christian broadcaster doesn’t speak for them." Steve G. Vegh

Pat Robertson's words HAVE come back to bite him at times, like saying that God struck down Ariel Sharon, “I would say, woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course,” said Robertson, who sought to back up his prognostication by citing the Old Testament prophet Joel.

The remarks elicited criticism from many evangelicals and Israel’s cancellation of Robertson’s involvement in a Christian tourist center proposed by the Israeli government for Galilee. There goes his theme park!

BUT WAIT...

...he then recanted the statement and apologised...

"Israel has accepted Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson ’s apology for suggesting that prime minister Ariel Sharon’s stroke was divine retribution for returning land to Palestinians, Israel’s ambassador to the United States said in a statement." It remains to be seen where the theme park plans are at, but I'm picking Pat will be back in business with that real soon.

Other Interesting Snippets

Pat Robertson has been quoted as saying that he does not drink and that he does not gamble, and yet he owns a racehorse named Mr Pat, into which he has sunk $520'000. The man who once said the city of Orlando would be attacked by killer tornados because Disney World held a "gay day" also bred one of his mares to a horse whose stud fee is $125,000.
"I wish horse racing was not supported by gambling," Pat Robertson. I will let you float that little gem around in your noodle at your leisure, but I know what I think! (Ps...I bogarted the word 'noodle' from Wolf.)

Pat Robertson says he is really only interested in bloodlines and the horse's performance while other people only go there to make money and look at the race book..."It is shocking, shocking, to learn that most other people go to the track to gamble. Who knew?" Cal Thomas

"You say you're supposed to be nice to the Episcopalians and the Presbyterians and the Methodists and this, that, and the other thing. Nonsense. I don't have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist." -- Pat Robertson, The 700 Club, January 14, 1991.

Don't worry if you're not an Episcopalian, Presbyterian, or Methodist, Pat's had damning words for you too,"Mel Seesholtz

Pat Robertson seems to think that he has the power to call down God's wrath on anyone who does not agree with him.....
I do not take any pleasure is writing the things that I have written, reading the same things over and over again for hours is a sickening and saddening experience. But I believe that we need to get a good understanding of the people we choose to follow (what they stand for, what they teach, what they believe, because we take on the yoke of what they believe and what they do if we choose to follow them) and some people are not up for reading screeds of information.

So what I have tried to do is take the information I have found and collate it in a coherent fashion. I would love to be able to say, "Hey, Pat's a great guy, no problems here," but I am unable to say that and I will not say it if it is not true.

I think the thing that I find saddest about Pat Robertson and many of the others out there is that once upon a time they had a calling to do a good and faithful work for God. Somewhere along the way they became corrupted and what could have been a blessing to thousands has become something not in keeping with the message of God. That is sad, it is sad because so much potential for good has been squandered away for the love of money, stature, political power or whatever. But at the end of the day, when the final curtain falls, where does it leave them? That is the truly sad part.
