The first call came in on September 12th at 2.00am New Zealand time. My friend who was a truck driver in the U.S.A and had been due in NY that week left me this message, "Don't panic, I am okay."
(When I heard the message he left I thought, okay, that's kind of a weird message to leave me.)
The second call came in at 4.00am New Zealand time on September the 12th, my friend and director/producer Rex rang me. "Wake up Sarah, wake up, switch on your TV, go to TV1."
We switched on the TV and could not believe what we were seeing!
New Zealand came to a standstill as we watched the images of people who had been caught up in this terrible tragedy...including some of our own...
